What YOU will do:

  • Lead Miltope’s Finance organization, establishing a culture of accountability, development, and high performance.
  • Own FP&A processes including annual budgeting, long-range planning, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly performance reviews.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, BD, and Program Management to align financial plans with business objectives and protect margins.
  • Oversee technical accounting and compliance (GAAP/IFRS), revenue recognition, reserves, and impairment analyses.
  • Establish disciplined internal controls and audit readiness; ensure compliance with FAR/CAS/DCAA for government contracting.
  • Drive manufacturing finance discipline—product costing, variance analysis, inventory control, and standard cost updates.
  • Lead ERP and finance systems optimization (Dynamics 365 preferred) to enable process transformation and data quality.
  • Manage cash flow, treasury operations, and working capital optimization; publish cash and liquidity dashboards.
  • Present financial performance, risks, and opportunities to the Board, Audit Committee, and ST Engineering leadership; drive clear, concise executive communications.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver timely, accurate financial closes and reports; maintain governance over accounting policies and procedures.
  • Achieve forecast accuracy targets and maintain accurate monthly outlooks across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Establish risk/opportunity management for financial drivers with quantified mitigation plans; maintain burn-down trajectories for high-risk items.
  • Reduce cycle times by improving process standardization, systems adoption, and data quality across finance and operations.
  • Strengthen stakeholder satisfaction (measured via agreed review cadence, action-item closure rate, and audit outcomes).

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Governance:

  • Build and manage financial baselines, EACs, monthly forecasts; partner with leadership on margin protection.
  • Coordinate pricing strategies, proposals, and financial reviews for government and commercial programs.
  • Navigate compliance frameworks (FAR/CAS/DCAA); prepare for DCMA/DCAA interactions as needed.

Business Partnership & Decision Support:

  • Serve as primary finance interface to functional leaders; shape plans and negotiate trade-offs to meet schedule/cost/quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with BD to develop capture plans, value propositions, and competitive proposals.
  • Represent Miltope at executive reviews and industry engagements as required.

Systems & Process Transformation:

  • Partner with IT on ERP (Dynamics 365 preferred) and finance toolset roadmaps; implement phase-gate upgrades and data governance.
  • Ensure robust configuration management for financial master data, change control, and integration to operations.
  • Publish clear, concise status reports and dashboards; drive continuous improvement across cycle times and cost control.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primarily indoors at the Montgomery (Hope Hull) facility; unrestricted travel may be required.
  • Remote work eligible only upon management authorization.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Ability to work at a desk for extended periods of time; ability to move through manufacturing areas as needed to partner with operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • CPA required.
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance (Secret or above).

Experience:

  • Minimum 12–15 years of progressive finance leadership in manufacturing, defense, and/or aerospace.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex government contracts and public procurement frameworks.
  • Strong track record in technical accounting and support of the design-to-production lifecycle.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Balance of strategic leadership versus willingness to be hands-on in a lean organization.
  • Executive presence and ability to present effectively to the Board, Audit Committee, and ST Engineering leadership.
  • Ability to partner effectively with Operations, Engineering, Business Development, and Program Management.
  • Leadership style that builds, develops, and holds a high-performing finance organization accountable.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop finance talent.
  • Technical accounting expertise (GAAP/IFRS, revenue recognition, impairments, reserves, inventory valuation).
  • Manufacturing finance and cost accounting experience.
  • FP&A capabilities (forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling).
  • ERP implementation, finance systems, and process transformation (Dynamics 365 strongly preferred).
  • Internal controls, audit, and compliance management.
  • Government contracting experience (FAR/CAS/DCAA).
  • Cash flow, treasury, and working capital management.
  • Turnaround and transformation experience.
  • Prior CFO/VP Finance experience or a top Controller/#2 finance leader demonstrably ready for the next step.
